That's right, some retailers are giving away free money.
Most of us should be receiving our "Economic Stimulus Checks" soon, and if you haven't already spent that money you might look at this way of getting a bonus on top of your check.
Several retailers, and even grocery chains are offering bonus programs. Most of them require that you buy $300 to $1200 worth of gift cards, and they will add an additional $30 per $300 that you buy. So you get an extra 10% bang for your buck.
An extra 10% at the supermarket is a great deal, but unfortunately neither Price Chopper or Hannaford are offering the deal yet. I am hoping that they jump on the bandwagon with some of the other national chains so we can take advantage of the additional spending power.
Some of the others offering similar incentives include: Radio Shack, Sears, Kroger stores, Shop 'n Save, and Albertsons, among others. I just don't think we would have been spending that much at any of those stores ordinarily. Hopefully some stores where we would normally be spending will offer something similar.

Okay, I am sure you have all seen a list come around by email, or seen other sites where people make a list of the 100 things they want to do in their lifetime. Maybe making a list and putting it out there as a reminder will help motivate me to cross some of them off. So, here is what I have come up with for a list so far. It's not a 100 things, it's not even 20 things I have added a couple so it is up to 20 (I combined a few because they will all get done at the same time)... but it's a start. If I start crossing off a bunch of these, I'll work on adding to the list. Or maybe you can give me some more ideas to add to my list. Leave me a comment with things that are or would be on your list.
Some of these are huge, some should be easy.
Things to do before I go...
Retire early, and have enough financial security to enjoy it
Rent a Villa in the French Countryside for a week or longer
Learn to speak a foreign language and vacation in a country where I can use that new skill
Spend a month in Italy
See the Sistine Chapel
Gondola ride in Venice
Run a 5k race
Give more to charity (not very specific, I know)
See a World Series Game at Yankee Stadium (or whatever they decide to call the new stadium)
Happy Earth Day everyone. That's right, April 22nd 2008 is Earth Day! So what right? Well this year I am going to make a pledge to myself to try to change at least one aspect of my life to make even a small difference. It's the least I can do right?
So here it is, I am going to work on using less water. No more leaving the faucet running while brushing my teeth, limit the yard sprinkling, less water doing dishes, etc... We'll see how well I do, but I at least have to try.
So how about you? Want to join my pledge? Leave me a comment on how you are celebrating Earth Day this year.
This one is for Dave and Denise. I was playing with some new features, and found that I could embed a slideshow of an album from my gallery. Since we have so many pictures in so many different albums, I couldn't come up with exactly what I wanted. But I figured Dave and Denise would like watching a slideshow of all the picture of Tess that I have. Enjoy.
One of the greatest spring vacations Brenda and I have ever taken was 10 years ago when we went to San Francisco. I can’t believe it was 10 years ago already. We had been looking at camps, and had just looked at what is now our camp for the first time. I think I was out west on business, and Brenda flew out to meet me for a little mini-vacation. It was actually our second vacation in San Francisco. We got engaged on a 2 week vacation out there back in 1991. This time it was a much shorter trip, but we had a great time, as usual. We went all over the city. Had a great time at the Hard Rock Café, drove out to Monterey, we really packed a lot of activities into a short time.
While in Monterey we were wandering around Fisherman’s Warf when we found this wrought iron sun sculpture. We both loved it, and said to each other that it would look great in the house that we had been thinking about. We decided to buy the sculpture, and when we got back home we called the real estate agent and put a bid in on our camp. That was a great trip.
